With passion and sincerity Gerry Brown tells the poignant and powerful story of how God turned his life around. Once involved in the manufacture and distribution of crystal meth, Gerry now helps others find freedom from alcohol and drug addiction through the ministry of U-Turn For Christ.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Philippians 4:13
“On the day I prayed the sinner’s prayer, I was a broken and empty man. I had no idea the difference that Jesus would make in my life. All I knew was that I was done fighting with God. I raised the white flag. I had no expectation of what would happen next. God was willing to forgive me, and that was much more than I deserved.” —Gerry Brown

“I am well acquainted with Gerry Brown and the ministry of U-Turn For Christ. It is one of the most effective ministries I know to help people turn their lives around. Calvary Chapel presently employs many of the persons whose lives were destroyed by drugs and alcohol, but were rehabilitated through this ministry. Without reservation I can highly recommend this book.” —Chuck Smith Senior Pastor, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa
“We love to see the underdog win. It reminds us that the impossible is possible. Gerry Brown’s story evokes that same sense of victory against all odds. What impressed me most was how God turned his life around and used his experience as the foundation for a ministry that is helping others today. It is a gripping and inspiring story.” —Dick Coury Former NFL, USFL, and NCAA Coach
Often those addicted to drugs or alcohol will generate a ripple effect, although they are usually too self-absorbed to notice or care. Some ripples last long and go deep, like a child losing a parent who overdosed and died, or a mother burying her son who drank while driving.
Equally, this ripple effect works both ways. Restored lives can also have a tremendous impact. Some who arrive at U-Turn For Christ begin the program with a trail of destruction behind them, but when they decide to turn from their addictions and live for Jesus, they start influencing others for the Lord. Like ripples on water, God has moved in hundreds of lives over the years, including those whose stories you are about to read.
U-Turn For Christ 2 is a compilation of real-life stories from men and women who came to U-Turn For Christ after hitting rock bottom. With no hope and no-where else to go, each person was introduced to the One who can turn a disastrous existence into a dynamic life of living for God. Surrendered to Him, they are now being used around the world to touch others for the Lord Jesus Christ.
As you journey through these stories, I pray that you too will have a ripple effect for God’s glory.
After 28 years of ministering the gospel to men and women whose lives were devastated by addiction, and witnessing their radical transformation through Jesus, I felt inspired to write a daily devotional. My hope is to encourage you, my friend, to draw near to God as you read these daily inspirations, discovering the goodness and promises of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Asaph, one of the writers of the book of Psalms, penned, “It is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Your works” (Psalm 73:28).
The author of the epistle to the Hebrews wrote, “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:22).
Just as the faithful men in the Bible were guided by the Holy Spirit to draw closer to God, my prayer is that on this devotional journey, you will find joy and wonder in cultivating a deeper understanding of Jesus.
In Prayer Changes Things, Peggy Brown shares her testimony of how the power of prayer set her free from a debilitating life of drug addiction. She shares, “If God can do it for me, He can do it for you too!”
In this book, Peggy shows the evidence of the power of prayer and how to practically evangelize prayer to those who need it most—everyone!
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3)
